Effective Date: January 1, 2014
We have created this privacy statement as a means to communicate our information collection, use and dissemination practices and to inform you about your choices regarding the use of your personal information. If choices are not made available on a web page used to collect your personal information, please contact us using the information described in this statement. We take your privacy seriously. If you have any questions or complaints about this privacy policy or our privacy practices, you should contact our Privacy Office by mail or through this website. Address your mail to Wontok Inc., ATTN: Privacy Office, 75 Broadway, Suite 202, San Francisco, California 94111, United States of America, or click here.

Information Collection and Use:
Registration and Use of Wontok Services and Wontok Websites.
In order to allow you to fully utilize our services, we may request and collect personal and non-personal information about you. Examples of instances where we collect your personal information include:

  1. To request information about our services or to become a user of our services, you are required to register with us. During the registration process, we may collect information such as your name, email address, password, your organization’s name, your mailing address, telephone number and the computer hardware and software that you use.
  2. When you purchase a subscription, we may also collect your credit card information and billing address.
  3. If you request technical support, we will request that you provide us with information that will enable us to assist you, such as your name, address, the software or services that you are using, your computer hardware and third party software that you are using.
  4. If you want to communicate with us for any reason, including to give us feedback on any Wontok services or any Wontok website or to request additional information, we request your name, address and contact information (including phone number and email address).
  5. You may elect to participate in one or more of our community forums or in one or more of our surveys or requests for feedback. Your participation in our forums and your response to these surveys and requests are voluntary and you may decline to participate.

If you elect not to provide us with the personal information requested, we may not be able to respond to your inquiry, register you for our services or process your order.

We also may collect and use non-personal information about your use of the Wontok website, such as Internet address or type of browser. In addition, we may track general information about traffic on our websites.

Secure DNS Look-Up
The secure browsing application that is made available as part of some Wontok services includes a secure Domain Name System (“DNS”) look-up service (the “Look-Up Service”). The Look-Up Service operates when you are using the secure browser and translates the domain name (e.g., www.example.com) into the corresponding Internet Protocol (“IP”) numerical address (e.g., 123.0.45.678) that corresponds to that domain name. The Look-Up Service collects the date and time of each DNS request and the domain name requested (“Look-Up Statistics”). Look-Up Statistics are not personally identifiable but may be correlated to your IP address and to the license key that was assigned to you when you registered for the Wontok Service, both of which are potentially personally-identifying information. We temporarily store the Look-Up Statistics to monitor and improve our quality of service, and to compile high-level aggregate information about the user of our service. The Look-Up Statistics may be stored for up to 60 days.

My Protection Feedback
The “My Protection” feature of some Wontok services collects information about your hardware and software and uses this information to provide you with a “Web Safety Score”, “Web Threat Analysis” or the like.  The information collected includes your operating system, your browser and any browser-enabled applications you may have installed (including the version number of such applications), the update status of any anti-malware you may have installed, and the security-related preferences or settings (e.g., frequency of updates, JavaScript enablement, etc.) in place on your computer. The Web Safety Score is computed in response to a web request, which will include the IP address of the computer requesting the score. We log the web request but this information is not correlated with any personally identifiable information that you may have provided to us. We aggregate Web Safety Scores, on an anonymous basis, so that we can improve the value of our services to our users. We may use aggregated, anonymous Web Safety Scores to monitor security levels, recommend improvements and publish reports on web safety statistics. You may choose not to have your Web Safety Score included as part of these aggregate data during the installation process or by contacting us (as described in this privacy policy) after the Web Safety Score application has been installed on your computer.

How We Use Collected Information:
We use the personal information that we collect for the stated purpose, e.g., if we collect information in connection with an order, we use the information to fulfill and invoice the order. We may also use your personally identifiable information to improve our marketing and promotional efforts, analyze the effectiveness of our services or our websites (or portions of our websites) and deliver customized services, web pages or other content to you. In addition, we may use the information that we collect to provide additional services or information to you or to improve your user experience. For example, we may publish and distribute a newsletter to our registered users or we may contact you with updates on virus, spyware or other malware threats or with announcements regarding new products or services or new features available from us.

We use non-personal information about web visitors and website traffic to assess the performance of our websites and improve your website experience. We use the Look-Up Statistics to provide you with the secure DNS look-ups, to monitor and improve the quality of our service and for internal analysis regarding the user of our service. We may use aggregated, anonymous Web Safety Scores to monitor security levels, recommend improvements and publish reports on web safety statistics.

With Whom We Share Information:
We may use other third parties to provide portions of the Look-Up Service and to host and provide customer experience management solutions on our customer help or support web pages. As a result, when you use the Look-Up Service or our help or support services we may share your user information as necessary for the third party to provide that service. These third parties are prohibited from using your user information for any other purpose. In general, except as stated at the time we request your information, we will not sell, share or rent your personal information with third parties. Please note, however, that we may share your information with one or more of our partners or resellers if you request information about our products and services, and those products or services are marketed through our partner or reseller arrangements. In addition, we may share your information with outside contractors (including credit card processors) who provide marketing, order fulfillment, shipping, billing or support services for us. Any third party receiving your information from us is required to hold such information in confidence and in accordance with applicable law and to use such information only for the stated purpose for which it was provided. We may also use and share aggregated information about website traffic to and from the websites of our partners and resellers and other product-identifying information to track and make commission payments to our partners and resellers.

For order processing and billing purposes we may share some or all of your information with a parent company or with subsidiary companies or other companies that are controlled by or under common control with us. We do not offer you a choice to opt-out of such sharing. Such companies will be bound by this privacy statement.

If we merge with another company or if our company (or all or substantially all of our assets) are acquired, the acquirer will own the personal information that we have collected, but such ownership shall be subject to the terms of this privacy statement.

How You Can Opt-Out or Change Your Personal Information:
You can opt-out of receiving additional information from us or allowing us to share your personal information in several ways. If an opt-out choice is not provided on the website page on which your information is collected, you can opt-out by sending us an opt-out request  on our privacy form. In addition, at any time, if you change your mind about receiving information from us or allowing us to share your personal information, you can elect to opt-out by sending an opt-out request on our privacy form. Referrals:
From time to time we may run referral programs. In connection with a referral program, you may elect to provide us with the name and email address of a friend. We will use this information to send an email to your friend inviting them to participate in our service. We will store this information solely for the purpose of evaluating the success of our referral program. Your friend may request removal of this information from our database by contacting us through our privacy form. We will respond to the request within 30 days.

Use of Cookies:
A cookie is a small text file that is stored on a user’s computer for record-keeping purposes, and to enable easier navigation between sections of a website. We use cookies on our websites. If you have provided us with personal information, we link the cookies to your information for the purpose of identifying you as a registered visitor to the site, as described below.

There are two kinds of cookies–session cookies and persistent cookies. A session cookie exists only for as long as you are visiting the website. Session cookies make it easier for you to navigate our site and expire when you close your browser.

A persistent cookie remains on your hard drive for an extended period of time and includes information such as your unique identifier for your browser. You can remove persistent cookies by following directions provided in your Internet browser’s “help” file. We use persistent cookies to confirm your identity as a registered user. Persistent cookies also enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance the experience on our site.

If you disable, reject or delete cookies, you may still use our websites, but you may need to occasionally re-enter information as you move through areas of our site.

Clear Gifs (Web Beacons, Web Bugs):
Wontok, or our third party marketing firms, may occasionally use clear gifs in HTML-based emails to let us know which emails have been opened by recipients. This allows us to determine how effective our email campaigns may be and to improve our email marketing efforts. If you would like to opt-out of these emails, please follow the directions at the foot of the newsletter or HTML email or see “How You Can Opt-Out or Change Your Personal Information.”

Third Party Advertising and Links:
We may include third party advertising and links to other websites, including websites affiliated with network advertisers. Network advertisers who place advertisements or links on our website may also use cookies and clear gifs (web beacons, web bugs) to collect non-personally identifiable information about you. In some cases, we may have access to the information collected by network advertisers from our website. We may use such information to identify other websites that you may have visited and/or to enhance our marketing and promotional efforts (e.g., by directing advertisements to you based on such information). To learn more about network advertisers and to opt-out of having this information used by network advertisers, please  visit https://www.networkadvertising.org/choices.

Once you click through a link or advertisement and leave our website, you become subject to the privacy policy of the other website. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the privacy practices of such other websites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our website and to read the privacy statements of each and every website that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by Wontok.

Forums, Blogs & Discussions:
If you elect to participate in a forum, blog or discussion on our websites, please be advised that this privacy statement does not cover any personal or other information that you may disclose and we have no control over or responsibility for how participants in such forum, blog or discussion may use any personal information that you provide to them.

Security:
We take security measures consistent with industry practice to help protect against the unauthorized disclosure, misuse, theft or alteration of your information. These measures include the encryption of any credit card information or other sensitive personal information that is transmitted to or from our websites. In addition, our web servers are hosted in a secure server environment that uses a firewall and other intrusion protection technology to protect against unauthorized access or interference.

If you have any questions about the security of our websites, or that of our partners, we ask you to please contact us here.

Legal Disclaimer:
We reserve the right to disclose your personal information as required by law or in circumstances where we believe that such disclosure is necessary to enforce or protect our rights or to comply with any governmental or judicial orders or in connection with any legal proceeding.

Notification of Changes:
If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes to this privacy statement, the homepage, and other places we deem appropriate so that you are aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. We reserve the right to modify this privacy statement at any time, so please review it frequently.
