NetSafety ID – FAQ

Protect yourself from cybercrime with NetSafety ID. Simply install on your device(s) and NetSafety ID will detect and block websites used by cybercriminals to commit phishing, fraud, and other malicious activities.

Compatible with all major browsers, NetSafety ID protects you while browsing the web.

What minimum operating systems are required to run the SafeCentral App?

NetSafety ID is compatible across Windows, macOS, Android and iOS devices.

  • Microsoft Windows 7 or higher; Processor: Pentium 4 or better; Memory/RAM: Minimum (2GB), Recommended (4GB and above); Hard Disk Space: 500MB and above.
  • macOS 10.12 or higher; 1.0GHz or better; Memory 2GB and above; Hard Disk Space < 10MB
  • Android 5.0 or higher; Screen resolution 480 x 800 or higher
  • iOS 11 or higher; 64-bit device.
Will the App protect me against the risk of a cyber-attack?

Yes. The NetSafety ID  protects users against malicious or phishing URLs across all devices, and regardless of the type of internet connection used. The App blocks cyber criminals from gaining access to your sensitive data such as date of birth, passcodes, account numbers and more, protecting all online activities including banking and shopping transactions.

I have anti-spyware and antivirus, how is NetSafety ID different?

While you are likely to be familiar with anti-spyware and antivirus software, which react after a threat becomes apparent, the NetSafety ID prevents threats from happening in the first place, making it a very proactive way for you to stay safer while on the web.

How do I access the NetSafety ID App?

iPhone / Mac

  • Open the App Store App.
  • Browse or search for the NetSafety ID App.
  • Click the Get button. If you see the Open button instead of a Get button, you’ve already downloaded that App.
  • Follow additional onscreen prompts.

 

Android

You can get Apps for your device using the Google Play Store App. The Play Store App comes pre-installed on Android devices that support Google Play and can be downloaded on some Chromebooks.

 On your device, go to the Apps section.

  • Tap Google Play Store Google Play.
  • The app will open and then search for ‘NetSafety ID’
  • Follow additional onscreen prompts.

Microsoft Store

  • Go to the Start button on you PC, and then from the apps list select Microsoft Store.
  • Visit the Apps tab in Microsoft Store.
  • Search for SafeCentral by Aol.
  • Select the app, and then select Get.
  • Follow additional onscreen prompts.
How do I activate the NetSafety ID App?

Once the NetSafety ID has been downloaded to your smartphone, Tablet, Mac, or Desktop activating the App is simple.

Open the App on your device and when prompted you will then receive an SMS from us with a 6-digit code. Enter this code into the App to complete the activation process.

How many devices are covered by the App?

Each NetSafety ID App subscription covers up to 6 devices per user and can be used on iOS, Android, macOS and Windows.

How do I download NetSafety ID on to multiple devices?

Once you have downloaded and activated the NetSafety ID App on your first device, installing it on up to five further devices (six in total) is easy. Just visit the relevant App store, search for NetSafety ID and get/download the App to your required device, open and follow the prompts. Each device installation is registered under your main account.

How do I cancel my subscription?

iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  • Open the Settings App.
  • Tap your name.
  • Tap Subscriptions.
  • Tap the subscription that you want to manage.
  • Tap Cancel Subscription. (Or if you want to cancel one but keep some subscriptions, tap Choose Individual Services.)
  • Note: If you cannot see Cancel, the subscription has been cancelled already and won’t renew.

Android

  • Open the Google Play App Google Play on your phone.
  • At the top right, tap the profile icon.
  • Tap Payments & subscriptions and then Subscriptions.
  • Select the subscription you want to cancel.
  • Tap Cancel subscription.
  • Follow the instructions.

Mac

  • Open the App Store app.
  • Click the sign-in button or your name at the bottom of the sidebar.
  • Click View Information at the top of the window. You might be asked to sign in.
  • On the page that appears, scroll until you see Subscriptions, then click Manage.
  • Click Edit next to the subscription that you want.
  • Click Cancel Subscription.
  • If you can’t see Cancel Subscription, then the subscription has already been cancelled and won’t be renewed.

Windows

  • To cancel your Microsoft subscription.
  • Go to Services & subscriptions and sign in with the Microsoft account you used to purchase your subscription.
  • Find your subscription and select Manage.
  • On the next page, select Cancel or Upgrade or Cancel, depending on your subscription type.
  • Follow the instructions on the page to proceed with cancellation.
How do I delete the NetSafety ID App from my device?

iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  • Touch and hold the SafeCentral App.
  • Tap Remove App Remove App icon.
  • Tap Delete App, then tap Delete to confirm.

If you touch and hold an app from the Home Screen and the Apps start to jiggle:

  • Tap the Remove icon in the top left-hand corner of the App.
  • Tap Delete App, then tap Delete to confirm.
  • Tap Done.

With iOS 14, instead of deleting apps, you can remove apps from your Home Screen, so that they only appear in your App Library.

Android

Note: Some of these steps work only on Android 8.1 and up.

  • Open the Google Play Store app Google Play.
  • Tap Menu and then My apps & games.
  • Tap on the NetSafety ID App.
  • Tap Uninstall.

If you delete or disable an App, you can add it back to your phone.

Mac

Use the Finder to delete an app.

  • Locate the NetSafety ID App in the Finder. Most Apps are in your Applications folder, which you can open by clicking Applications in the sidebar of any Finder window. Or use Spotlight to find the App, then press and hold the Command (⌘) key while double-clicking the App in Spotlight.
  • Drag the App to the Bin or select the App and choose File > Move to Bin.
  • If you’re asked for a username and password, enter the name and password of an administrator account on your Mac. This is probably the name and password that you use to log in to your Mac.
  • To delete the app, choose Finder > Empty Bin.

Windows

Uninstall from the Start menu.

  • Select Start and look for the NetSafety ID App in the list shown.
    Press and hold (or right-click) on the App, then select Uninstall.

Uninstall from the Settings page.

  • Select Start, then select Settings > Apps > Apps & features,
  • Select the NetSafety ID App and then select Uninstall.
