General FAQs

What minimum operating systems are required to run the WebSafety Parenting App?

The WebSafety Parenting App is compatible across Android and iOS smartphones. See below for minimum operating system guidelines:

  • Android 5.0 or higher; Screen resolution 480 x 800 or higher
  • iOS 11 or higher; 64-bit device
Is the WebSafety Parenting App free?

The WebSafety Parenting App is free and available for download from the App Store and Google Play Store.

Is the WebSafety Parenting App available worldwide?

Currently the WebSafety Parenting App is available from the App Store and Google Play Store in Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, and United States of America.

How do I access the WebSafety Parenting App?

iPhone

  • Open the App Store App.
  • Browse or search for ‘WebSafety Parenting App’.
  • Click the Get button. If you see the Open button instead of a Get button, you’ve already downloaded that App.
  • Follow additional onscreen prompts.

 

Android

You can get Apps for your device using the Google Play Store App. The Play Store App comes pre-installed on Android devices that support Google Play and can be downloaded on some Chromebooks.

  • On your device, go to the Apps section.
  • Tap Google Play Store Google Play.
  • The app will open and then search for ‘WebSafety Parenting App’.
  • Follow additional onscreen prompts.
How do I activate the WebSafety Parenting App?

Once the WebSafety Parenting App has been downloaded to your smartphone activating the App is simple.

  • Firstly, open the App.
  • Next, we’ll ask you to add the VPN Configuration to initiate web protection.
    You’ll be prompted to permit the App to add a VPN configuration to your smartphone. Tap Allow to have the VPN configured on your phone automatically.
  • Next, when prompted, enter the mobile number associated with the smartphone you have downloaded the App on.
  • Enter the 6-digit SMS code we send you to complete the activation process.
How do I download the WebSafety Parenting App on to multiple devices?

You need to download and install the WebSafety Parenting App on each smartphone that you want to protect.

Simply visit the App Store or Google Play Store, search for the ‘WebSafety Parenting App’ and follow the onscreen prompts to install on your smartphone. Once the App is installed on your smartphone, activate the WebSafety Parenting App (see: How do I activate the WebSafety Parenting App?).

What content is blocked with the App?

The WebSafety Parenting App once installed will block access to websites that contain illegal and adult content: drugs and narcotics, pornography, weapons and violence, illegal file sharing, gambling, online dating and more.

Our technology blocks more than 40 categories of harmful content and works in real time to ensure your kids stay safe online.

Is my family’s data safe and secure?

Yes.  Security is our number one priority, and the WebSafety Parenting App uses SSL encryption and all the data that is analysed is stored within encrypted databases.

Does the App offer the same level of protection across all operating systems?

Yes. The same high-level protection is delivered via the App across iOS and Android operating systems.

How do I get technical support for the App?

How do I delete the WebSafety Parenting App from my smartphone?

iPhone

·      Touch and hold the WebSafety Parenting App.

·      Tap Remove App Remove App icon.

·      Tap Delete App, then tap Delete to confirm.

If you touch and hold an app from the Home Screen and the Apps start to jiggle:

·      Tap the Remove icon in the top left-hand corner of the App.

·      Tap Delete App, then tap Delete to confirm.

·      Tap Done.

With iOS 14, instead of deleting apps, you can remove apps from your Home Screen, so that they only appear in your App Library.

Android

Note: Some of these steps work only on Android 8.1 and up.

·      Open the Google Play Store app Google Play.

·      Tap Menu and then My apps & games.

·      Tap on the WebSafety Parenting App.

·      Tap Uninstall.

If you delete or disable an App, you can add it back to your phone.

Do you share my information with 3rd parties?
We do not share customer information with any 3rd parties.

Common Tasks (Device/App)

iPhone

Viewing information about the device.

  • Go to Settings, General, About. The items you can view include: Name / iOS software version / Model name, serial number etc.

Viewing overall storage availability and storage used per App.

  • Go to Settings, General, iPhone Storage.

Viewing battery usage.

  • Go to Settings, Battery to see the elapsed time since iPhone has been charged and usage by App. You can also display battery level as a percentage, turn Low Power Mode on or off, and check your battery’s health.

Android

Viewing information about the device.

  • Go to Settings, Android System Info. The items you can view include: Model name, version etc.

Viewing overall storage availability and storage used per App.

  • From the home screen, choose Apps or swipe up to access your Apps.
  • Choose Settings.
  • Choose Device maintenance or Device care. If you do not see this screen, go to step.
  • Choose device maintenance.
  • Choose Storage (you may need to scroll down a little).
  • This will now show you how much storage you have left on your device. If you have an SD card, the remaining space on the SD card will be shown at the bottom of the screen.

Viewing battery usage.

  • Open your Settings app on your Android device.
  • Locate and tap Battery.
  • In the Battery window, tap the menu button in the upper-right corner.
  • From the popup, tap Battery Usage.
  • In the resulting window, take a look at what Apps are using your battery.

Note: You might find one App that is using more battery than it should. If so, tap the entry and you can tap to disable or even force stop the app, change the App’s battery restriction setting, or open the Battery Optimization tool and add the App to that feature.
